Three Bowls

In Design as Art, designer Bruno Munari discusses the Greek pithos as an object that once served a designed purpose — storage — but in the context of today is viewed as art. He discusses eliminating boundaries between aesthetics and functional features in the design of objects, instead striving for formal coherence between the object’s form and purpose.

Through turning these bowls, I sought to exploit process, material, and form to manipulate the interplay between aesthetics and functionality.
