Telegraph

Telegraph is a thought experiment exploring alternative human-computer interactions for artists and designers. Switching between the myriad of tools, settings, and commands in 2D and 3D rendering software is an core part of the creative flow for professionals and hobbyists. How do we design gestures that facilitate this and feel like second nature?

Exploring gestures and form factors

I wanted to explore form factors that felt like an extension of the hand, to make the process of creating a more physical experience. The idea of tapping into physical reactions and instincts seemed promising.

Exploring an infinite number of inputs from a minimal number of simple touchpoints

Telegraph machines were an interesting source of inspiration: varied combinations of clicks, swivels and pauses could open a wide array of interactions in a compact form factor.
